That is in the past. Let's worry about the present and what is going on right now. Nothing against african american's but honestly when I am on my own and I am trying to make it in life and go to college and I can't get in because there is no grants for me thats just rediculous. I understand that has really nothing to do with what cure is all about but come on if we worried about what is going on now, back then that probably wouldn't have happened right! So maybe lets fix now so we don't look back from the future and try in fix what we are doing now. Well I wasn't going to send this but I am, it's a late night and I just happened to stumble on your website and I feel that my grandpa fought in world war 2 and my uncle was in vietnam and all I see in grant books and scholarships is for african americans and indians so I am just frustrated and you get to hear it . sorry. You sound like a nice person who is just dealing with a little frustration. Yes, Matt, the past is affecting the present. You suggest “let’s fix now” and believe me, that is what CURE wants to do, and what the reparations movement wants to do. I, too, am very much concerned with how the future will see us. We can create a great legacy for our children by confronting the onus of slavery right now, in this generation. Isn’t that a really profound thing to do, when you think about it? I hope you will read some more, and mull it over in your mind. And, I wish you well with school grants. I know about grants because I have college age sons, and they have many friends. They’re doing it, and you will too if you make it your will to do so. Have heart – as you get your education, perhaps you’ll realize that the benefits of being white in this society still outweigh any preferences that attempt to provide an equal starting point for all who want to get an education.
